Hello. My name is Erica Melman and this is My TS Story – Conference Edition. My experience started at the kickoff event. When the Amanda Gorman poem was played, I was moved by the theme “Defy Gravity”, and what that means to the turner Syndrome Society and to all of the “butterflies”. It was just amazing to translate that into how strong we are – so strong that we can persevere and survive anything we put our minds to. ]
Because turner syndrome butterflies do defy gravity!
The conference in Portland was my 11th. I get something out of it every year and it’s just so amazing to hear and be a part of everyone’s journey – whether it’s starting or whether it’s continuing.
What the conference brings us is nothing short of speechless. There are no words, it’s just indescribable. I’m so glad to be a part of it, and I feel the theme “Defy Gravity” and that poem rally resonated and made this whole conference amazing.
Thank you so much the Turner Syndrome Society of the United States and all you do for us. I am a proud butterfly and just love what the conference brings to us each and every year.
