Acknowledge the Beauty and Uniqueness that is YOU! - by Lauren Quesnel

I have mosaic Turner syndrome and was diagnosed at age 15, after years of irregular periods and some concerning lab results. At the time, my OB/GYN feared something far more serious - possibly ovarian cancer. So, when Turner syndrome became the diagnosis, it was actually a huge relief! Still, I wish I had known earlier. Early diagnosis is key with Turner syndrome. It gives you answers, access to care, and - most importantly - the knowledge to move forward with clarity and peace.
If I could speak to my younger self, I would tell her that everything is going to be okay. MORE than okay! In fact, you will THRIVE! Life will not be defined by your diagnosis. It's simply a piece of you, not the entire puzzle.
I am a registered nurse with 17 years’ experience, and I was inspired to become a nurse and help others after all my initial doctors’ appointments for TS. I am married with two beautiful children, and I was thankfully able to conceive through IVF. Infertility can often be a significant challenge for those with TS, but I'm here to tell you that I was able to fulfill that dream. (For some), it can be done!
To all those with Turner syndrome: you are perfect just the way you are. You can accomplish anything. All you have to do is dream it. Acknowledge and validate the struggles with TS (because believe, there are many). But also acknowledge the beauty and uniqueness that is YOU. Sending love to all my fellow butterflies.
