I've Overcome Lots of Challenges - by Lacey Hicks

Hi! I’m Lacey, and I was diagnosed with Turner syndrome (TS) at 12. I was devastated at not being able to have kids. I was put on growth hormone shots right away and did well on them. I’ve had to deal with nonverbal learning disability (NLD), especially with making friends, finding and keeping a job, and learning to drive. I have a license now, though, and drive as part of my job as a job coach.

My gonads never worked, so I’ve been on hormone replacement for about 25 years. I’ve been overall healthy though, and I’ve been married and divorced and have a dog I love very much. I was able to do fairly well in school, including college. I could have used a job coach myself when I first started working, I had trouble staying busy, as I needed to be told what to do a lot and I’m not naturally detail oriented.
