“Sorry, but as a woman with TS and mom of a teen with TS I have a small but important qualification to this. "Very independent lives" is a subjective bar, but in my (admittedly also subjective) experience it would have to be set pretty high for "most" of us not to meet it. Does my daughter have support in school? Yes. Will she have whatever support she needs in life? Yes. However, from our current vantage point in middle school our expectations for her are for her to live independently/ with her own family, have a job and manage her affairs. To those setting expectations for their young children, and especially those making decisions about pregnancies, I will say to keep expectations high unless/until needs present themselves. I would not be an MD if my parents had treated me differently from my younger siblings. To honor our diversity I would say "some" are independent, "some" depend on others and "some" are in between, even if those lines may not be exactly the same as in the general population. Just my two cents.” Catherine Ward Melver

News about Norditropin availability.

COVID-19 Update.

Nationwide Shortage of Growth Hormone Norditropin Continues

UPDATE ... NPR: Early on, Novo Nordisk said the supply would be restored by February. Then, the estimate stretched to June. Now, the shortage is expected to last the rest of the year. Sponsor Message "Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances have resulted in longer than expected ramp-up time to expand capacity at our new production facility and meet the ever-increasing global demand for Norditropin,"

Novo Nordisk spokesperson Allison Schneider told NPR in an email. "These manufacturing delays mean that in the US there will continue to be intermittent product availability with periods of stockouts of all Norditropin dose strengths until the end of 2023." She said the company is increasing manufacturing capacity and expects the supply to "stabilize" in 2024.

"We understand how frustrating this situation is for the communities we serve and are doing everything we can to minimize the impact for everyone affected."
